Vape Prevention Education Grant

Elizabeth School District is one of 29 school districts in Colorado to receive grant funding from the JUUL settlement.  Read more Here.  The grant funding is directed to achieve the following objectives:

  • Address the youth vaping crisis through education, prevention, and treatment 
  • Provide professional development opportunities for school staff 
  • Increase family and community involvement in promoting healthy lifestyles and choices for students
  • Include activities and programming that incorporate youth voices and are culturally responsive.
  • Adopt or enhance comprehensive vaping and drug prevention policies that include ENDS and move towards student-centered alternatives to suspension approaches.

2023 Healthy Kids Colorado Survey revealed 30% of high school students have ever used a vaping device.

Healthy Kids Colorado Survey results: Colorado Estimate of High School Students who have ever used an e-cigarette is 30%. Table includes students 15 years old and younger at 24.6%, 16 year olds at 31.1%, 17 year olds at 37.1%, and 18 years or older at 37.6%

2023 Healthy Kids Colorado Survey revealed 8.7% of High School students have used a vaping device in the past 30 days, indicating regular use.
